Psychology of Magic

An event for years 12 and 13 at South Essex College to generate a passion to study psychology and gain awareness and knowledge about the subject at HE level. The activity will investigate how magic influences the brain and look at the psychology of magic and then practical information and advice about studying a degree in psychology and university in general.

As well as being treated to the performance of some incredible magic, students will receive an in depth study of one or two magic tricks. The psychology of Magic is covered, explaining how magicians use how people think and behave to create their magic. As well as being fascinating and engaging, these principles are widely applicable in other fields, such as management, sales, copywriting, caring professions and much, much more. Everyone will leave with the ability to perform at least one magic trick, and a knowledge of the psychological principles that underpin it.
